Abstract

Currently, Indonesia is in a difficult situation due to the Covid-19 pandemic. During the pandemic, people are required to adapt to their daily lives. This also applies to the implementation of public services and business actors, where the public service sector tightens social and physical distancing. All places of business and public services must limit the number of people doing activities to maintain the distance between individuals. Because of these factors, a tool is needed to calculate the number of people entering and leaving the room in real time based on IoT (Internet of Things). IoT is a technology that connects an equipment to the internet to perform several functions. The purpose of this research is to build a system of counting the number of people by using IoT technology to solve problems, how to monitor the process of counting the number of people in the queue can be done automatically and efficiently and how to order queue numbers can be done online. The tools used to build the system are infrared sensors, Arduino ESP8266 Wemos D1 R1 microcontroller as the main controller of all components, Arduino IDE and Firebase. From the test results and the analysis, it is found that the control of electronic equipment in counting the number of people operates according to predetermined specifications, as long as the system is connected to a stable and continuous internet network (WiFi).
