Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out how the news writing techniques used by the news drafting team at PT Wahana Semesta Bengkulu Televisi through Rakyat Bengkulu Televisi (RBTV). The data in this study were collected by interview, documentation, and literature study methods and then analysed to find out the news writing structure techniques, formulas and rules of news writing and news synchronisation. Interviews were conducted with news editors, news editors, and news reporters. The documentation method in this research was carried out by collecting data obtained from news writing scripts that have been made by RBTV. Based on the results of research and data analysis, the research on news writing structure techniques on RBTV uses an inverted pyramid structure. This shows that the news aired by RBTV prioritises the important elements of the news in the news terrace section. The news writing formula on RBTV has used the SW + IH concept by applying it to the headlines and the body of the news. Synchronisation or harmony between images and news narratives on RBTV is formed by finding images that match the events. However, there are still obstacles to obtaining appropriate images, such as cameraman access in certain cases and the presence or absence of a journalist crew at the time of the incident.
