Abstract

This study aimed to investigate: the relationship between training attended by midwives and
the implementation of IMD in the Independent Practice Midwives of Bengkulu City. This type
of research is an analytical survey research with a cross sectional approach. The research
subjects were 49 independent practicing midwives at BPM who were drawn using
proportional techniques. The data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using
the Chi square test. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between
training (p = 0.005) and the implementation of IMD. In conclusion, there is a significant
relationship between training and the implementation of IMD. Early Initiation of
Breastfeeding (IMD) will be carried out well if the midwife is committed to carrying out her
role starting from the time the mother is in the antenatal period.
